Time to pray
Finding space to pray in our busy, constantly moving lives is often difficult – but it is not impossible. Choosing somewhere with few, if any, distractions is challenging; and perhaps the biggest challenge of all is the distraction of time. Yes, we are busy but it is easy to use that busy-ness as an excuse. Just sit in your favourite chair, leave your phone in another room, close your eyes and be aware of your breathing. The most complex difficulty is to still our ever churning minds; concentrate on a word or open your eyes and concentrate on an object; reduce your universe to that word or object – just for a couple of minutes – and concentrate on it. Don’t worry about praying for this or that, just experience that still and immense presence of the Divine. Even if this oasis of prayer lasts for just a few minutes, you have found space to pray.
